In this episode of Spring Baking Championship season 2, the remaining four bakers are challenged to create wedding desserts inspired by destination locations. The first challenge is a "beachside wedding" theme where they must create a colorful and tropical dessert that will transport the judges to a sunny beach location. The second challenge has a "Parisian" theme, where the bakers must create a romantic and elegant dessert inspired by the city of love and romance.
First up, the bakers are given only 90 minutes to create their beachside wedding desserts. They must incorporate at least 3 different types of fruit in their dessert and must use a variety of decorating techniques such as piping, molding or hand painting. The judges are looking for bright and vibrant flavors that will remind them of a relaxing day at the beach.
One baker decides to make a tropical fruit tart with mango, pineapple, and passionfruit. They use a special pastry cream to give a creaminess to the tart and top it with edible flowers and gold flakes. Another baker chooses to make a coconut and pineapple cake with toasted coconut flakes on top. They use a cherry compote filling between the layers and garnish the cake with a beautiful sea-inspired design.
Next, the bakers move on to the Parisian-themed challenge. They are given 2 hours to create a romantic and elegant dessert that would fit perfectly in a French patisserie. The judges are looking for a dessert that incorporates quintessential French flavors such as lavender, rose, and raspberry.
One baker decides to make a raspberry macaron tower with a rose petal filling. They create a delicate and intricate tower featuring a variety of different colored macarons and garnish the tower with fresh raspberries and edible gold paint. Another baker creates a raspberry mousse cake which they decorate with gold leaf and a pink ombre effect on the frosting.
The judges taste the desserts and grade them based on taste, presentation, and creativity. The baker with the lowest overall score is eliminated from the competition.
In the final challenge, the three remaining bakers must create a modern wedding cake inspired by their favorite city in the world. They are given 4 hours to complete the challenge and must use at least 3 different flavors and a variety of decorating techniques.
One baker chooses New York City as their city of inspiration and creates a black and white cake with alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla cake. They use fondant to create a skyline of New York as the cake topper. Another baker chooses Tokyo and creates a unique matcha-flavored cake with layers of chocolate ganache and a cherry blossom buttercream.
The judges taste each of the cakes and grade them based on flavor, texture, and creativity. The winner of the challenge is declared the Spring Baking Champion and takes home a cash prize of $50,000.
Throughout the episode, the contestants face various challenges and setbacks. They must think on their feet and come up with creative solutions to impress the judges and stay in the competition. With their skills and talent, the bakers deliver stunning and exquisite desserts that leave the judges in awe. It's an exciting and thrilling episode that keeps the viewers engaged and on the edge of their seats.
