"Concerning Flight" is the eleventh episode of season four of Star Trek: Voyager. The episode, written by Joe Menosky and directed by Jesus Salvador Trevino, first aired on November 26, 1997.
In the episode, Voyager's crew discovers that several artifacts have been stolen from the ship's cargo bay. Commander Chakotay (Robert Beltran) leads an investigation into the theft and discovers that a group of collectors, known as the Hazari, is responsible for the theft. The Hazari are notorious for their ruthless tactics and are known to employ violence to acquire valuable items.
Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) realizes that the stolen items include several works of art that were acquired during their travels through the Delta Quadrant. She is determined to recover the stolen artifacts and orders Chakotay to lead an away team to the Hazari's stronghold.
The away team, consisting of Chakotay, Tuvok (Tim Russ), Paris (Robert Duncan McNeill), and Torres (Roxann Dawson), infiltrate the Hazari stronghold and retrieve the stolen artifacts. However, they also discover that one of the stolen items is a valuable piece of technology, a device that can transport Voyager to the Alpha Quadrant.
The Hazari pursue the away team, and a chase ensues. As Voyager prepares to jump to the Alpha Quadrant, it is attacked by a Hazari ship. In the ensuing battle, Voyager is badly damaged and the device is destroyed.
In the end, Voyager is left to continue its journey through the Delta Quadrant, and Captain Janeway is left to ponder the value of a single piece of technology. She recognizes that the pursuit of technology can be a double-edged sword, and that sometimes the search for knowledge can lead to unintended consequences.
"Concerning Flight" is a well-paced and exciting episode that explores the themes of technology and the value of knowledge. The Hazari are an intriguing and menacing group, and the episode's action sequences are both thrilling and well-executed. The episode also features some terrific performances, particularly from Beltran and Mulgrew, who bring depth and complexity to their characters.
Overall, "Concerning Flight" is a standout episode of Voyager's fourth season, and one that will be enjoyed by fans of the series and science fiction in general.
