Ep 16. Mark of Gideon

He had hoped that by exposing the virus to the Enterprise crew, they would spread it to other planets and slowly reduce the galaxy's population.

Upon discovering Hodin's plan, Captain Kirk offers to work with him to find a peaceful solution, but Hodin insists that he cannot allow his society to be contaminated by outsiders. The episode climaxes into a perilous standoff, as the Enterprise crew tries to escape the planet before becoming infected by the deadly virus.
