The New Crystal Gems is the seventeenth episode of the fifth season of Steven Universe. In this episode, the Crystal Gems decide to form a new team to protect Beach City while Steven and Connie are away.
Peridot, Lapis Lazuli, and Connie team up to become "The New Crystal Gems." They take on various missions around Beach City, from capturing rogue gems to helping people in need. However, their teamwork is put to the test when they discover a new threat in the form of a gem-powered robot.
As they work to protect Beach City from this new enemy, the New Crystal Gems must also navigate their own dynamics as a team. Peridot, still learning about Earth and its customs, clashes with Connie's leadership style, while Lapis must confront her own reservations about fighting.
