Columbia's All the King's Men won Best Motion Picture at this year's Academy Awards, with Broderick Crawford also winning Best Actor for the same film. Olivia de Havilland won Best Actress for her role in The Heiress, and Fred Astaire was given a Special Award for for his unique artistry and his contributions to the technique of musical pictures.
