Ep 3. Playing Without Limits

In this episode of The Champion Within season 4, titled "Playing Without Limits," viewers are introduced to several athletes who have overcome physical challenges to excel in their sports.

First, we meet Tyler Neary, a teenager from Ohio who has cerebral palsy. Despite the limitations his disability presents, Tyler has become an accomplished golfer and hopes to one day play on the PGA Tour. With the help of a customized golf cart that allows him to stand and swing his club, Tyler is able to compete against able-bodied golfers and even win tournaments. Through determination and perseverance, Tyler has found a way to pursue his passion for golf and inspire others to never give up on their dreams.

Next, we learn about Jimmy Choi, a former accountant turned athlete who has Parkinson's disease. After being diagnosed with the disease in his mid-thirties, Jimmy was determined to show that Parkinson's would not define him. He started running as a way to cope with the physical and emotional challenges of the disease, and has since become an accomplished endurance athlete, completing numerous marathons and even competing on American Ninja Warrior. Jimmy uses his platform to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson's research, and to inspire others with the disease to live life to the fullest.

We also meet Chris Nikic, the first person with Down syndrome to complete a full Ironman triathlon. Despite facing significant challenges in each segment of the race, including a 2.4 mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a full marathon, Chris never lost his positive attitude and determination. With the help of his coach and family, Chris trained for over a year to prepare for the race, and crossed the finish line to the cheers of thousands of spectators. His accomplishment has inspired countless people with disabilities to pursue their dreams and never give up on themselves.

Lastly, we hear from Kaya Tuncer, a world champion para-archer from Turkey. Kaya was born with a rare genetic condition that affects his hearing and vision, but he never let that stop him from pursuing his passion for archery. With the help of a guide who communicates with him through tactile cues, Kaya has become one of the best para-archers in the world, winning multiple gold medals and setting several world records. He hopes to inspire others with disabilities to find their own passions and never give up on their dreams.

Throughout the episode, viewers are reminded of the human capacity for resilience, courage, and perseverance. These incredible athletes refuse to let their disabilities define them, and instead use their challenges as motivation to push themselves to new heights. Their stories serve as a reminder that anything is possible with hard work, determination, and a positive attitude.
