Ep 5. Uncle George

Rob and Laura receive a surprise visit from Rob's Uncle George, who has recently become a widower. Despite Rob's initial excitement about his uncle's visit, he soon realizes that Uncle George is not the fun-loving, jovial man he remembered from his childhood. Instead, he is morose and depressed, struggling to come to terms with the loss of his wife.

Rob and Laura try to cheer Uncle George up, but their efforts are largely unsuccessful. Uncle George spends most of his time sitting in Rob's office, reminiscing about his life with his wife. He is unable to find joy in anything, and Rob and Laura are at a loss as to how to help him.

Meanwhile, Sally and Buddy are preparing for a big audition, and they ask Rob to help them with their routine. Rob is hesitant at first, knowing that his attention is needed elsewhere, but he eventually agrees to help them out. To his surprise, he finds that working with Sally and Buddy is a welcome distraction from his uncle's gloominess.

As the days go by, Uncle George becomes increasingly despondent, and Rob and Laura become increasingly worried about him. They decide to take matters into their own hands and plan a surprise outing for Uncle George. Their hope is that a change of scenery will lift his spirits and give him something to look forward to.

The outing turns out to be a huge success. Uncle George is momentarily distracted from his grief as he takes in the sights and sounds of the city. He even manages to crack a few jokes and laugh with Rob and Laura. For a brief moment, it seems like he is starting to see the world in a brighter light.

Despite this, when they return home, Uncle George continues to struggle with his emotions. Rob and Laura are heartbroken to see him in such pain, and they vow to do everything in their power to help him.

As the episode draws to a close, Sally and Buddy prepare to head off to their audition, hoping to win a big break in show business. Rob and Laura wish them good luck, but their thoughts are still with Uncle George.

In the end, Rob and Laura realize that there is no easy fix for Uncle George's grief. They can offer him love and support, but ultimately, he will have to find his own way forward. It is a bittersweet realization, but one that brings them closer together as a family.
