Ep 11. Pickleball

Pickleball is the eleventh episode of the seventh season of the popular American sitcom, The Goldbergs. This episode follows the story of the Goldberg family as they try to maintain the spirit of Christmas despite the overwhelming workloads and family drama.

Like typical happy families, the Goldbergs decide to divide up their list of Christmas errands among themselves. Beverly (the matriarch of the family) is in charge of the overall decorating, Erica (the eldest daughter) is responsible for shopping and gift-wrapping, while Adam (the youngest child) is tasked with finding the perfect Christmas Tree and making it fit their living room. Murray (Beverly's husband) is burdened with his work, so it comes down to just the four of them and Garth (Adam's best friend) to bring in the magic of Christmas.

The episode continues with the family going about their respective tasks. However, things start to seem shaky when Adam finds that the Christmas Tree he buys is too big for their living room. He tries to fix the situation by cutting off the top of the tree, but as he does this, the family gets a call from emergency services regarding a theft at the store nearby. The family immediately rushes to the scene, only to find out that the thief was none other than Murray himself.

In a bid to avoid getting too far behind at work, Murray stages a theft at the store and makes away with merchandise he had no intention of paying for. And just when things couldn't get any worse, they did. Erica had a fight with Geoff (her boyfriend) and broke up with him, and Beverly finds herself locked in the department store at night.

The main story of Pickleball revolves around Murray, who is faced with the difficult choice of either confessing his guilt to the store owners (and risk being arrested and facing charges) or keeping quiet and hoping that the situation will sort itself out. So, with Garth's support, Murray decides to come clean. Meanwhile, the rest of the family tries to deal with their individual ghosts, and Adam tries to fix the Christmas Tree mess he created by looking for a new one.

The episode ends with the family coming together to sing carols and Murray returning the merchandise he stole from the store. With their individual issues out of the way, they all come together to celebrate the spirit of Christmas, in a harmonious and loving manner.
