Ep 1. Sick and Tired (1)

Dorothy struggles with her chronic fatigue syndrome upon returning from a trip to Washington, D.C. to see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Due to her illness, the other Golden Girls try to help out with her workload. Meanwhile, Rose is determined to write a book on a Scandinavian hero named Herring Sven. However, she is constantly distracted by her newfound love of TV shopping. Blanche is surprised when her sister Virginia shows up, but Virginia quickly reveals that she is dying of a disease and plans on staying with Blanche until her death. Ultimately, the episode deals with themes of aging, illness, and the power of friendship.
