Ep 4. The Dim Knight

Two detectives, Dan Stark and Jack Bailey, work in the Dallas Police Department and have a knack for getting into trouble. In the fourth episode of The Good Guys season 1, titled The Dim Knight, the duo investigates a burglary in a comic book store.

The detectives soon discover that the store owner's valuable Batman memorabilia, including an original comic book, has been stolen. Dan, who is a big fan of Batman, takes the case more seriously and is determined to catch the thief. Meanwhile, Jack is skeptical about the case's significance and finds it ridiculous.

They find a suspect who had been arrested earlier but released due to lack of evidence. Dan suspects him to be the thief but Jack is reluctant to believe his hunch. Dan gets his hands on the accused's phone and discovers a video of him with the stolen comic book. Jack is impressed and reluctantly praises Dan for his intuition.

During the investigation, Dan repeatedly references Batman and how he wants to take down the thief the same way Batman would. He even goes on to dress as Batman in his quest to apprehend the thief. Jack is skeptical at first, but Dan's determination convinces him to go along with the plan.

The duo eventually finds the thief hiding in a warehouse and Dan, in his Batman costume, confronts him. The thief is apprehended, and they manage to recover all the stolen merchandise. The comic book owner is overjoyed at its return and thanks Dan for his efforts.

Throughout the episode, Jack is shown struggling with his own self-doubt as a police detective. He faces pressure from his colleagues, who mock him for his partnership with Dan, and from himself, as he wonders if he belongs in the police force. However, his collaboration with Dan on the Batman case gives him a renewed sense of purpose and confidence.

The episode ends with the duo in their patrol car, singing along to a country song, patting each other's back for a case well solved. The Dim Knight episode of The Good Guys is a fun and entertaining police procedural, with a great blend of humor and action.
