The Infinite Worlds of H.G. Wells is a science-fiction anthology television series based on the works of the renowned author H.G. Wells. In season 1 episode 1, titled "The New Accelerator," the audience is introduced to a world where two young scientists create a potion that can accelerate the human body to such an extent that everything around them slows down.

The episode begins with Jack Sterling, a struggling journalist, meeting with his old friend, Professor Gibberne, who has just invented a new potion. According to Gibberne, the potion can speed up the metabolism of the human body by a thousand times, making everything around them appear to be moving in slow motion. Jack is skeptical at first, but he agrees to take the potion and document his experience.

As Jack ingests the potion, he experiences an immediate surge of energy in his body. He begins to see the world around him in slow motion, and everything seems to move at a snail's pace. Initially, Jack is thrilled with his newfound powers, but as he begins to experiment with them, he realizes that the potion has side effects that are far more dangerous than he could have ever imagined.

As Jack moves through the city, he uses his powers to play practical jokes on people, steal money from an ATM, and even make advances on a woman he meets on the street. But as the effects of the potion begin to wear off, Jack realizes that he has lost all sense of time and has aged nearly a decade in just a few hours. He also begins to experience extreme fatigue and physical pain.

Meanwhile, Professor Gibberne and his partner, Miss Stanley, who have also taken the potion, have been experimenting with it in their laboratory. They have discovered that the potion can not only speed up the metabolism of the human body, but it can also accelerate the aging process of living organisms. They realize that if the potion is not stopped, it could cause irreversible damage to the human race.

As the episode progresses, Jack, Professor Gibberne, and Miss Stanley race against time to find an antidote to the potion before it's too late. They face many obstacles, including angry mobs, government officials, and the effects of the potion on their own bodies. In the end, they are successful in finding an antidote, but not before they have learned a valuable lesson about the consequences of playing with nature.

"The New Accelerator" is a thrilling and thought-provoking episode that explores the limits of human intelligence and the consequences of playing God. It is a perfect introduction to the series and showcases the masterful storytelling skills of H.G. Wells. The episode is filled with suspense, action, and a touch of humor, making it a must-watch for science-fiction fans and anyone who enjoys a good story.
