Ep 3. The Buffer

In The Mick season 1, episode 3 titled "The Buffer," Mickey, played by Kaitlin Olson, tries to teach Sabrina and Chip about self-defense after they become the targets of a bully at their new school. Meanwhile, Uncle Jimmy, played by Nat Faxon, tries to teach Ben how to be cool but ends up getting himself into trouble.

The episode begins with Mickey trying to get the kids ready for school. She is struggling to find Sabrina's uniform, and it's obvious that she doesn't have things under control. Once they arrive at school, Sabrina and Chip are confronted by a bully named Logan, who tries to steal their lunch money. Mickey tries to intervene, but she's not successful.

After Sabrina and Chip come home from school upset, Mickey realizes that she needs to do something to help them. She enrolls them in a self-defense class, but it quickly becomes apparent that the instructor is not very good at his job. So Mickey takes matters into her own hands and starts teaching the kids some moves herself, using a punching bag as a makeshift opponent.

While Mickey is busy with Sabrina and Chip, Jimmy is trying to bond with Ben. He takes him to an arcade and tries to teach him how to be cool, but things quickly go wrong. Jimmy ends up getting into a fight with a group of teenage boys, and Ben ends up alone and scared.

As the episode progresses, Mickey's self-defense lessons start to pay off. Sabrina is able to stand up to Logan and defend herself, while Chip surprises everyone by putting a bully in a chokehold. Meanwhile, Jimmy manages to make things up with Ben by staging a fake robbery at the arcade.

Overall, "The Buffer" is a funny and heartwarming episode that shows the lengths that Mickey will go to protect her family.
