Ep 2. The Model Home

Ryan Atwood, a troubled teenager from Chino, has moved in with his public defender, Sandy Cohen, and his family in Newport Beach, one of the most affluent communities in Orange County. In episode 2, titled "The Model Home," Ryan and Seth, Sandy's nerdy son, break into a model home that is still under construction and throw a party.

The party quickly spirals out of control as the unexpected arrival of Marissa, the girl next door who Ryan has a crush on, causes some tension. Ryan's bully brother from Chino, Trey, also shows up and causes a ruckus. Meanwhile, Sandy tries to convince his wife Kirsten, a socialite and former flame, to give Ryan a chance to stay with them a little longer.

As the night progresses, things take a turn for the worse when Ryan and Marissa end up getting into an accident. The incident causes a rift between Ryan and Seth, but it also leads to a moment of vulnerability between Ryan and Marissa.

Back at the Cohen household, Kirsten's father Caleb, a prominent businessman, drops in unexpectedly and causes some tension. He disapproves of Sandy and Kirsten's marriage and tries to stir up trouble. Kirsten must also deal with her old flame Jimmy, who is going through a tough divorce.

Overall, "The Model Home" explores the theme of class and the clash between the wealthy and the working-class. It also delves into the relationships between the characters and how they navigate their rocky pasts and uncertain futures.
