Ep 15. The Search

Michael, Dwight, and Jim embark on a search to find a new assistant for Michael. The episode begins with Michael calling his former assistant, Donna, who left the company a few years ago. Michael is eager to have her back, but she politely declines his offer. This prompts Michael to realize that he needs to find a new assistant quickly.

Dwight suggests that they hold interviews to find the best candidate for the job. Michael agrees, and the three of them start the search process. They interview a number of candidates, but none of them seem to be a good fit for the job. Michael, Dwight, and Jim get frustrated with the process, and they decide to take a break.

During their break, Michael reveals to Jim and Dwight that he is scared to be alone. He explains that he has always had someone to rely on – first his mother, then his assistant – and he doesn't know how to function without that support. Jim and Dwight reassure him that they will always be there for him, and Michael feels better.

Meanwhile, the rest of the office is dealing with their own problems. Ryan is struggling to come up with a new business idea, and Kelly is afraid that he will leave her if he does. Andy is trying to come up with a new nickname for himself, but everyone hates the ones he suggests. Toby is still pining after Nellie, but she is not interested in him.

After their break, Michael, Dwight, and Jim continue their search for the perfect assistant. They interview a few more candidates, but none of them seem to be the right fit. Michael is starting to lose hope when they come across a candidate named Erin. She seems overqualified for the job, but Michael is instantly drawn to her.

As they continue to interview Erin, Michael starts to see more and more potential in her. She is energetic, smart, and eager to learn. Michael decides to hire her on the spot, and she accepts the job.

The rest of the office is happy to see that Michael has found a new assistant, and they welcome Erin with open arms. Ryan is still struggling with his business idea, but he finds comfort in the fact that Kelly is supportive of him. Andy finally settles on a new nickname – "Big Tuna" – after Jim suggests it to him. Toby is still sad about Nellie, but he tries to move on by going on a date with a coworker.

The episode ends with Michael feeling relieved that he has found a new assistant. He thanks Dwight and Jim for their help, and they assure him that they will always be there for him. The camera pans out to show the entire office working together as a team, ready for whatever challenges lie ahead.
