The Villains of Valley View is a comedy series that premiered on Disney Channel in 2022. The show centers around a family of supervillains who are forced to give up their evil ways and assimilate into suburban life in a small town called Valley View. The villain family is led by father Victor Van Cleave, known as the dastardly Dr. Necrosis, and his wife Carina, also known as Night Terror. The couple have three children - their teenage daughter Amber who goes by Maleficent in her supervillain persona, their rebellious younger son Reed who is called Skull Crusher, and their youngest sweet daughter Sky. After a run-in with a superhero group called The League of Heroes, the Van Cleave family's villainous plots are continuously foiled. As punishment for their evil schemes, they are banished from Metropolis and forced to relocate to the sleepy suburban community of Valley View under the Van Cleave alias. The family must tone down their villainous nature and try to fit in as normal citizens, all while abiding by rules set for them by their superhero parole officer Lucy. A big part of the show's humor comes from the former supervillains struggling to assimilate into mundane suburban life and resist the urge to cause mayhem with their powers. Simple everyday activities like parent-teacher conferences, soccer games, and neighborhood barbeques prove challenging when you're used to wreaking havoc. Reed in particular has a hard time giving up his destructive ways much to the chagrin of his parents. The Van Cleave kids also have to navigate typical school experiences, make new friends, and keep their supervillain identities secret. Only a few like oddball Prudence and Amber's best friend Gayle know their true villainous nature. Maintaining normal teen lives on top of superpowers proves tricky, especially with Reed constantly trying to undermine their assimilation. Throughout the show, The League of Heroes keeps close tabs on the family through Officer Lucy to ensure they stay in line. But Dr. Necrosis and Night Terror still dream of returning to the glory days of their evil ways and must toe the line of how far they can push things before getting caught. They often use their powers to take shortcuts or cause slight mischief behind Lucy's back. At its core, The Villains of Valley View is about a dysfunctional family trying to reform themselves and figure out how to be good, with plenty of funny super-powered hijinks along the way. The show explores themes of change, redemption, and finding yourself when forced out of your comfort zone. With clever writing and lovable characters, The Villains of Valley View puts a fresh spin on the classic fish-out-of-water sitcom.
