Ep 2. A Philadelphia Story

Meanwhile, Kate (Chrissy Metz) is struggling with her own issues as she adjusts to life as a mother to her new baby boy, Jack. The stress of caring for a newborn is taking a toll on her relationship with her fiancé, Toby (Chris Sullivan). Toby senses that Kate needs a break and offers to take her out for a night on the town. The couple has a good time but faces some unexpected obstacles along the way which ultimately lead to a much-needed breakthrough in their relationship.

Throughout the episode, we see snippets of Jack's life in Vietnam as Kevin tries to piece together what his father went through during the war. We also get a glimpse into the family's past as teenagers when Kevin, Randall, and Kate get into a heated argument over a family game night.
