Back in present day, Sookie is still struggling with her relationships with both Bill and Eric. She agrees to go on a date with Alcide, but quickly realizes that she still has feelings for both of them. Meanwhile, Bill is dealing with the consequences of his new position as King of Louisiana, including the rise of a dangerous cult-like group called the Authority.
At the same time, Lafayette begins to experience some terrifying visions and seeks help from Jesus' grandfather. He soon realizes that the visions are connected to the ghost of a woman who was killed by the vampire who turned Tara into a vampire.
Jason is also dealing with his own issues, as he begins having vivid and disturbing dreams about his parents and his sister. He confides in Sookie and they both begin to suspect that their family's past may be connected to some of the supernatural occurrences in Bon Temps.
As the episode progresses, we see the characters grappling with their own identities and the consequences of the choices they have made.
