True Conviction is a documentary drama television series that follows the life of three former inmates, who have been wrongly convicted and spent several years in prison. Season 3, episode 6, titled A True Psychopath, revolves around the story of Anthony McClain.

Anthony McClain was a former truck driver who had a history of drug addiction. He was convicted of a double murder and sentenced to life in prison. However, McClain has consistently maintained his innocence and claims that he was framed for the murders.

As the episode begins, we are introduced to McClain's attorneys who have been working on his case for several years. They have uncovered new evidence that could potentially clear his name, and they are working hard to present their case to the court.

We then see flashbacks of the night of the murders, and we hear from several witnesses who testify that they saw somebody else at the scene of the crime, and not McClain. The witnesses describe the person as a white male, but no one was ever investigated or charged in connection with the murders.

As the attorneys continue to build their case, they discover that the lead detective on the case was under a lot of pressure to solve the murders quickly, as there was a lot of public interest in the case. They also find out that this detective had a history of coercing confessions and manipulating witnesses.

The episode then takes a closer look at the detective's interrogation techniques, which were deemed by many to be unethical. We see him using psychological pressure, lying to witnesses, and making false promises. In some cases, witnesses were threatened with arrest if they did not provide a testimony that fit with the detective's theory.

As the lawyers dig deeper, they uncover evidence of a conspiracy, in which the detective and several other law enforcement officials falsified evidence and hid information that could have exonerated McClain. The pressure to solve the case had led them to fabricate a story that would fit their narrative, and they had knowingly put an innocent man in prison.

The attorneys are now confident that they have enough evidence to win the case. They present their arguments to the court, and we see the judge carefully considering all the evidence presented. Finally, the judge reaches a verdict, and the episode ends with the attorneys announcing the decision to McClain.

Overall, this episode is a powerful depiction of how the criminal justice system can fail innocent people. It shows how easily a mistaken or corrupt detective can manipulate evidence and coerce witnesses to fit their theory, and how difficult it can be to uncover the truth. Nevertheless, it is also a hopeful story, showing that dedicated lawyers, investigators, and witnesses can work together to correct these injustices.
