True Life Season 18 Episode 10 Save My Teen Marriage
- June 9, 2015
As parents, the thought of our children getting married young can be intimidating and worrisome. But when two young people decide to get married, it's important that they have the support and guidance they need to make their union work. In the season 18 episode of True Life titled "Save My Teen Marriage," we meet three couples - all of whom got married as teenagers and are now struggling to keep their relationships intact.
The first couple we meet is Gabby and Victor. They met online when Gabby was just 14, and Victor was 17. They fell in love quickly and decided to get married when Gabby was just 17 and Victor was 20. Now, at the age of 19, Gabby is struggling with the idea of being tied down to one person for the rest of her life. She's never had the chance to experience life on her own, and she's not sure if she's ready to give up her freedom for a marriage that might not work.
Our second couple is Julie and John, who also got married when they were teenagers. Unlike Gabby and Victor, they met in person and were friends for several years before they decided to get married. They have a child together, and John works hard to provide for his family while Julie stays at home with their son. However, John's long work hours have put a strain on their relationship, and Julie is feeling neglected and alone.
The final couple we meet is Sarah and Michael. They got married when they were just 18 and 19 years old, and now, three years later, they're on the verge of divorce. Michael is struggling to find work and provide for his family, while Sarah feels like Michael is not doing enough to support her emotionally. They've both grown apart, and they're not sure if they have what it takes to save their marriage.
Throughout the episode, we see each couple working with a marriage counselor to try and repair the damage that has been done to their relationships. They attend couples therapy sessions and participate in emotionally strenuous activities designed to help them reconnect and communicate more effectively. For some couples, these exercises prove to be successful and their relationships grow stronger. For others, the tension and struggles prove to be too much, and they ultimately decide to separate.
"Save My Teen Marriage" is a heart-wrenching look at the challenges that young couples face when they get married before they are ready. We see the struggles that Gabby, Julie, and Sarah face as they try to navigate the rocky waters of marriage, and we witness the immense pressure that their partners are under to provide for their families. Ultimately, this episode of True Life serves as a cautionary tale for those who are considering getting married at a young age, and it highlights the importance of seeking guidance and support in order to make a lifelong commitment work.
