Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) is a successful jingle composer who lives a carefree life at his Malibu beach house. He has a brother named Alan (Jon Cryer), who is recently divorced and has a son named Jake (Angus T. Jones). In season 1 episode 6 of Two and a Half Men, titled "Did You Check With the Captain of the Flying Monkeys?", Alan becomes obsessed with proving to Charlie that Judith, his ex-wife, is cheating on him.

Alan's obsession starts when Jake tells him that Judith is going to a hotel with her tennis instructor, which leads Alan to believe that she is cheating on him. Alan confronts her about it, but she assures him that nothing is going on. However, Alan remains suspicious and tells Charlie about his concerns.

Charlie, on the other hand, tries to convince Alan to let the issue go and move on, but Alan refuses, determined to uncover the truth. Alan decides to follow Judith when she goes on a date with her tennis instructor, Herb (Ryan Stiles). He asks Charlie to come along, but Charlie refuses, leaving Alan to follow Judith alone.

While on the stakeout, Alan and Judith end up at the same restaurant as Charlie, who is on a date of his own. Charlie spots Alan and Judith together and recognizes the opportunity for a little mischief. He convinces Herb to play along with his plan by telling him that Judith's ex-husband is a wealthy man who would pay him a lot of money to break up the relationship. Herb agrees to Charlie's plan and makes a scene, causing Judith to break up with him.

Alan is heartbroken when he sees Judith and Herb walking out of the restaurant together. Charlie tries to console him by telling him that he did the right thing, but Alan is devastated. At the end of the episode, Alan finds out that Judith was not cheating on him after all and feels guilty for ruining her relationship with Herb.

As with all episodes of Two and a Half Men, "Did You Check With the Captain of the Flying Monkeys?" is full of laughs and witty banter between the characters. Charlie Sheen's performance as the laid-back and carefree Charlie Harper is a particular highlight of the episode. Jon Cryer does an excellent job of portraying the heartbreak and guilt that Alan experiences throughout the episode. Overall, this episode is a great addition to the first season of Two and a Half Men and is well worth watching for fans of the show.
