Charlie's past comes back to haunt him in "If They Do Go Either Way, They're Usually Fake," the seventh episode of season one of Two and a Half Men.
The episode begins with Charlie receiving a visit from Andy, a man he used to date years ago. Andy is now a woman named Andrea, and she's played by guest star Catherine Lloyd Burns.
Charlie is surprised to see her, and even more surprised when she tells him that she's getting married and invites him to the wedding. He agrees to go since he's curious to see what her fiancé looks like.
Meanwhile, Alan is dealing with his own relationship issues. His ex-wife Judith is coming over to drop off their son Jake, and Alan is nervous about seeing her. He also has a date with a woman named Gloria, but he's worried she won't like him because he's not as successful as Charlie.
When Judith arrives, Alan tries to impress her by bragging about his job as a chiropractor. She's not impressed, and he ends up getting into an argument with her about their divorce. Jake ends up being the mediator between them, telling them to stop fighting and be nice to each other.
Later that day, Charlie and Alan go to Andrea's wedding. Charlie is surprised to see that her fiancé is a man, but he's even more surprised to learn that he used to date him too. The man's name is Benjamin, and he's played by guest star Sean O'Bryan.
Charlie and Benjamin end up getting into a fight, and the wedding is ruined. Andrea is upset with Charlie for causing a scene, and she tells him that he needs to confront his issues with his sexuality.
Back at home, Alan is still worried about his date with Gloria. But when she arrives, he's surprised to learn that she's actually interested in him because he's a good father. They end up having a good time together, and she even invites him to go to church with her the next day.
The episode ends with Charlie sitting alone on the couch, thinking about what Andrea said. He picks up the phone and calls his ex-girlfriend, hoping to get some answers about his past.
