Alan is at a pharmaceutical convention in town when he runs into his ex-girlfriend, Jamie Eckleberry, who happens to be a sales consultant for a company that manufactures a new kind of "male enhancement" cream. While Jamie tries to sell Alan on the product, he of course is skeptical, but eventually he decides to give it a try.

Meanwhile, Charlie is on a date with a woman named Mandy who is obsessed with death. She talks about it incessantly, and it's clear that the subject makes Charlie uncomfortable. At one point, Mandy reveals that she's been reading Charlie's mail and knows that he's been going to couples counseling. Charlie is understandably furious and storms out of the restaurant.

Back at the beach house, Alan tries the cream and is amazed at the results. He feels like a brand new man, but things quickly take a turn for the worse when he realizes that the cream has some unexpected side effects. He becomes paranoid and delusional, convinced that the devil is after him.

Charlie, who has now reconciled with Mandy, comes over to the house to find Alan in a state of panic. Alan insists that he needs to go to church and confess his sins, but Charlie convinces him to wait until morning. That night, however, things only get worse as Alan's hallucinations intensify and he becomes increasingly unstable.

In the morning, Charlie and Alan head to church where they run into Jamie and her boss, who are there to try and drum up business. Alan confesses his sins to the priest, including how he's been using the cream, and the priest advises him to stop using it immediately.

Back at the beach house, Alan begins to experience withdrawal symptoms as he tries to quit cold turkey. He becomes angry and defensive, accusing Charlie of trying to sabotage him. Eventually, Charlie decides to take matters into his own hands and flushes all the cream down the toilet.

The episode ends with Alan, now fully recovered, apologizing to Charlie for his behavior and asking for forgiveness. Charlie, in turn, admits that he's been struggling with his own issues and thanks Alan for being such a good friend. The two men hug it out, and the audience is left with a heartwarming moment of friendship and forgiveness.
