In the first episode of Unforgotten season 3, the viewers are introduced to a new case that has arisen after the discovery of a dismembered body found in a barrel in the Thames River. The initial investigation reveals that the body belonged to a young man named David Walker who disappeared over 20 years ago, but the identity of the killer remains a mystery.
DCI Cassie Stuart, played by Nicola Walker, and her partner DI Sunny Khan, played by Sanjeev Bhaskar, take on the case and begin exploring all possible leads. Meanwhile, Cassie also has to deal with her own personal struggles, including her father's failing health and her struggling relationship with her own son. These personal challenges threaten to compromise her objectivity in the case, but she remains determined to bring justice to the victim and his family.
