Ep 7. An Almost Religious Awe

Angela Abar, known as Sister Night, finds herself in a difficult situation in "An Almost Religious Awe," the seventh episode of Watchmen's first season. She has taken her grandfather, the former Hooded Justice, to Will's antique shop to ask him about what happened in 1921 in Tulsa. Will tells her that he has been having memories of a love affair with a German woman named Inez. Angela decides to leave him at the shop and heads home to her husband, Cal, and her children.

Cal is acting unusually, and Angela soon discovers that he is actually Doctor Manhattan, who has been living in hiding after his powers were transferred to a human body. The Seventh Kavalry, a white supremacist group, have found out about his existence and have kidnapped him. Angela, along with Looking Glass and Laurie Blake, go to rescue him using the Owlship, an aircraft from the old Watchmen crew.

Meanwhile, we see the story of Judd Crawford, who was supposedly killed by the Seventh Kavalry earlier in the season. In flashbacks, we learn that Judd was actually a member of Cyclops, a secret society of white supremacists founded by his grandfather. Judd tried to leave the group but was ultimately killed by them when they found out about his affiliations.

Back in the present, Angela, Looking Glass, and Laurie find Cal, who is being kept on a giant machine that is meant to take his powers back. The plan to rescue him goes wrong and Laurie is captured by the Seventh Kavalry. Angela and Looking Glass manage to save Cal and destroy the machine, but they lose the Owlship in the process.

The episode ends with Angela taking Cal to the Doctor Manhattan booth and asking him to transfer his powers back to himself so that he can help them fight the Seventh Kavalry. Cal/D.M. accepts and disappears, leaving Angela alone in the booth.

"An Almost Religious Awe" is a thrilling episode that reveals more about the characters' backstories and motivations while also moving the season's overall plot forward.
