Gene Autry was a popular western hero and was also a great country and western singer. "The Singing Cowboy" was his nickname. He had one of the biggest Christmas hits of all-time "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" in 1949. Another one of his big hits was "Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane)". In the 1950's he was a minority owner of the "Hollywood Stars" a minor league baseball team. In the 1960's when the MLB put a new franchise in Los Angeles he purchased the radio rights for the new team and later became the owner of the franchise which was called the "Los Angeles Angels".

The Three Mesquiteers was the umbrella title for Republic Pictures series of approximately 51 Western B-movies that were released between 1936 and 1943, including 8 films starring John Wayne. The cast list changed but always had a trio of cowboys named Tucson Smith, Lullaby Joslin, and Stony Brooke . The members of this trio over the entire series were: Ralph Byrd, Ray "Crash" Corrigan, Rufe Davis, Jimmie Dodd, Bob Livingston, Raymond Hatton, Duncan Renaldo, Syd Saylor, Bob Steele, Max Terhune, Tom Tyler and John Wayne.

Harry Carey was one of the first silent western heroes. In 1878 he was born and started in the film industry in 1909 until he died in 1947. His son Harry Carey Jr. followed his footsteps as a western actor. Jr. was born in 1921 and worked from 1946 until he died in 2012 in the film industry.

Roy Rogers was a Western Hero but he is known best for being married to Dale Evans, another Western Hero. Roy had a popular Western TV series named "The Roy Rogers Show." Then Roy and Dale both starred in the series "The Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Show," but it only aired 12 episodes_4-18 before being cancelled.
