In Zoo season 2 episode 4, titled "The Walls of Jericho," the team faces three different challenges in their efforts to stop the animals' worldwide attacks. First, they must infiltrate a laboratory where a high-security experiment is being conducted on a group of hybrid animals. The lab is heavily guarded, and the team must use all their covert skills to gain entrance undetected. Once they're inside, however, they discover that the animals have already staged a breakout, and that the experiment may have gone horribly wrong.
Meanwhile, in Japan, Jamie and Mitch work to investigate a mysterious toxin that appears to be causing animals to become more aggressive than ever before. Their search leads them to a secret facility, where they uncover a group of scientists who may be behind the toxin, and learn that the Japanese government is involved in a massive cover-up of their activities. Armed with this knowledge, Jamie and Mitch face a difficult decision about how to proceed.
Back in the United States, Chloe, Abe, and Jackson focus their energies on finding a way to stop the animals' latest attack, which involves a horde of rats that have taken over a small town. The trio quickly realizes that the rats are immune to conventional poisons, and that they must find a new solution to the problem. Despite some initial setbacks, they eventually find a way to drive the rats back and save the town from certain destruction.
Throughout the episode, tensions run high as the team struggles with these increasingly complex challenges. They face not only physical danger, but also ethical dilemmas as they weigh the costs and benefits of different strategies, and try to save lives without causing more harm. In the end, they come together to overcome their difficulties and find new hope that they can continue to fight back against the animals' relentless assaults.
