The Campaign is a 2012 political comedy directed by Jay Roach and starring Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis, and Jason Sudeikis. Set in North Carolina, the film follows incumbent congressman Cam Brady (Ferrell), an unchallenged Democratic politician who finds himself in trouble when a scandal threatens his political career. In need of a challenger, a pair of corrupt businessmen, the Motch brothers (John Lithgow and Dan Aykroyd), engineer the candidacy of Marty Huggins (Galifianakis), a naive, eccentric tourism director with a love of pugs and a lack of political experience.

Initially, Marty is underestimated and mocked by Cam, who considers him an easy target. However, as the campaign progresses, Marty proves to be a formidable opponent, thanks in part to his quirky charm and the help of his campaign manager, Tim Wattley (Dylan McDermott), who has a more ruthless approach to politics.

As the two candidates engage in a series of debates, speeches, and dirty tricks, their personal lives also become entangled. Cam's marriage begins to crumble under the weight of his infidelities, while Marty's family is targeted by the Motch brothers in their efforts to control the outcome of the election.

Throughout the film, The Campaign satirizes the world of politics, exposing the hypocrisy, manipulations, and absurdities that are often hidden behind the polished facade of political campaigns. It also explores themes of greed, power, and the corrupting influence of money on the democratic process.

As expected in a Will Ferrell comedy, there are many hilarious moments, from Cam's inappropriate behavior to Marty's awkwardness, but the film also has its share of heartwarming scenes, particularly in the relationship between Marty and his family.

Overall, The Campaign is a funny, entertaining, and timely satire of American politics, highlighted by the energetic performances of its talented cast.

The Campaign is a 2012 comedy. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.1 and a MetaScore of 50.
