Ep 19. Argus

In 30 Rock season 4 episode 19, titled "Argus," Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) is forced to deal with the consequences of breaking up with her boyfriend, Dennis (Dean Winters), who also happens to be the airline pilot for TGS's sponsor, Argus Air. In an effort to avoid flying with him, Liz decides to take a train to Chicago for a panel discussion on women in comedy, but when the train breaks down in the middle of Pennsylvania, she's left stranded with no way to get to her destination on time.

Meanwhile, at the studio, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) is dealing with some corporate espionage, as a rival network has stolen one of TGS's skits and is planning to air it on their own show. Jack enlists Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) and Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) to come up with a new, even better sketch in order to one-up their competition.

Back at the train station, Liz meets a fellow passenger, played by Will Forte, who is also on his way to the comedy panel. The two hit it off, but Liz is still desperate to find a way to get to Chicago on time. She enlists the help of a bumbling train conductor (played by John Hodgman) to try to get a ride with a passing freight train, but their plan backfires and Liz ends up stranded again, this time in Cleveland.

As Liz struggles to find a way to get to Chicago, she realizes that she's been running away from her problems instead of facing them head-on. She makes the decision to go back to New York and confront Dennis, realizing that it's the only way to move on and get her life back on track.

Back at the studio, Jack, Tracy, and Jenna come up with a new sketch that's so funny it makes the competitor's stolen skit look like a flop. The episode ends with Liz returning to TGS, ready to face whatever challenges come her way.

"Argus" is a standout episode in the fourth season of 30 Rock, showcasing the show's trademark blend of sharp writing and wacky hijinks. The episode manages to balance several plotlines without feeling overcrowded, and the guest appearances by Forte and Hodgman add some extra comedic flair. Ultimately, the episode serves as a reminder that sometimes the only way to move forward is to face our problems head-on, no matter how scary or difficult they may seem.
