Caprica was a science fiction drama television series that aired on Syfy from 2009 to 2010. The show was a prequel to the critically acclaimed Battlestar Galactica, set in the fictional world of the Twelve Colonies, 58 years prior to the events of the original series. Caprica explored the origins of the Cylons, a race of robots who would later turn on humanity in a devastating war.

The show followed the lives of two families, the Graystones and the Adamas, who were living in the city of Caprica at the pinnacle of its technological advancement. Daniel Graystone (played by Eric Stoltz) was a wealthy businessman and inventor who was grieving the loss of his daughter, Zoe (played by Alessandra Torresani), in a terrorist attack. Joseph Adama (played by Esai Morales) was a lawyer and enforcer for the Ha'la'tha crime syndicate, who was mourning the loss of his wife and daughter in the same attack.

Their paths crossed when Daniel discovered that Zoe had created a sentient, digital avatar of herself before she died, which he believed could be used to create the first artificial intelligence. Joseph, on the other hand, was tasked with investigating the terrorist attack and the involvement of his associates. As they both searched for answers, their lives became intertwined and they found themselves facing a series of ethical dilemmas that questioned the nature of life and consciousness.

The Graystones also had to deal with their own personal issues, including Daniel's strained relationship with his wife, Amanda (played by Polly Walker), and their son, Willie (played by Sina Najafi), who was struggling with his identity and place in society. Meanwhile, the Adamas were dealing with the repercussions of their criminal activities, as well as Joseph's strained relationship with his brother, Sam (played by Sasha Roiz), who was a Tauron soldier.

As the show progressed, the characters became more deeply involved in the world of artificial intelligence, corporate politics, and crime, and they began to explore complex themes such as identity, morality, and religion. Caprica also featured a diverse cast of characters, including LGBT and disabled characters, who were treated with respect and depth.

The show received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, with some praising its thoughtful exploration of complex topics, while others criticized its slow pacing and lack of action. Despite the mixed reception, Caprica developed a cult following and remains a beloved part of the Battlestar Galactica universe.

In conclusion, Caprica was a science fiction drama series that explored the origins of the Cylons and the ethical dilemmas surrounding the creation of sentient artificial intelligence. It featured complex characters and explored deep themes, making it a thought-provoking addition to the Battlestar Galactica universe.

Caprica is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (20 episodes). The series first aired on April 21, 2009.
