Disney Channel Renews 'Girl Meets World' for Season 2

The Disney Channel might have itself a new flagship show. "Girl Meet World" has been renewed for a second season, according to reports. The much-anticipated "Boy Meets World" spin-off is still only about halfway through its first season, a 20-episode order. No word yet on how many episodes Disney plans to order, but all indications say that it will also be 20. The renewal isn't a huge surprise: Reponse to the show has been mostly positive, and it premiered to more than 5 million viewers back in late June following months of buzz.

You Can Now Hear the Opening Theme Song for 'Girl Meets World'

You can't watch the premiere of "Girl Meets World" quite yet...but you can watch the opening credits! Disney released the opening credits to the "Boy Meets World" spinoff online today, which includes the opening theme song. It's definitely a song of it's time: It features some sweet, aspirational vocals as sung by a young pop star, giving it a Katy Perry/Ariana Grande sort of sound. It sounds quintessentially 2014, but the original theme songs for "Boy Meets World" sounded quintessentially of their own times as well.

'Girl Meets World' Sets Premiere Date, Gets New Trailer

Ladies and gentlemen, your spin-off has arrived! "Girl Meets World," the spin-off of the classic 90's sitcom "Boy Meets World," has been a subject of much discussion on the Internet ever since it was announced. A while back, we even got a look at the first clip from the show. But the premiere date for the show had been kept under wraps...until now. "Girl Meets World" will premiere on Friday, June 27 at 9:45pm on the Disney Channel. Yeah, we know...

Watch the Sickly Sweet First Trailer for 'Girl Meets World'

The first trailer for "Girl Meets World" is here. And frankly, we're not sure what to think. The 30-second teaser for the "Boy Meets World" spinoff has everything that a growing Disney Channel show needs: Two fashionably-dressed teenagers with just the slightest hint of rebellion, a loving but buzzkill dad, heart-to-heart talks and inspirational messages. Oh, and purple. Lots and lots of purple. But will the show lack bite? There's certainly nothing here to indicate that that "Girl Meets World" will have any of the real laughs that came with "Boy Meets World.

Mr. Feeny Returns For the 'Girl Meets World' Pilot

Photographs from the set of “Girl Meets World” had “Boy Meets World” fans in a tizzy when they hit the Internet… they showed Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews), and William Daniels (Mr. Feeny) greeting and posing with new and old cast members, including Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter. However, the photos were just a visit from Strong and Friedle. Disappointing news, perhaps, but it has been confirmed that Daniels will be returning to the show! Daniels played the wise but put-upon Mr.

Topanga of 'Boy Meets World' (Danielle Fishel) Graces the Cover of Maxim

With “Girl Meets World” production bracing to begin, let’s not let all our attention focus on the next generation of the Matthews family. After all, Topanga (Danielle Fishel) still exists… and now, she’s posing for Maxim. That is one hot TV mom. In the spread, Fishel reveals a few choice tidbits to the magazine. Like, why the name “Topanga?” "Michael Jacobs, who created 'Boy Meets World,' says he was driving down the highway when production called and said, 'We need a name for this character!' He happened to be driving past Topanga Canyon, so he said, 'Topanga.

'Girl Meets World' Adds Another Main Character to the Cast

Guys, Danielle Fishel has an announcement to make. “I have an announcement to make,” the bubbly lady said on her Twitter account. “I have a gorgeous daughter (@rowblanchard) and a handsome son (@teohalm). @BenSavage and I love you both!” If the statement is a bit confusing, you may be one of the few of you remaining who don’t know there is a “Boy Meets World” follow-up in the works, and that Fishel was using that Twitter moment to announce that “Girl Meets World,” which will follow original “BMW” characters Cory and Topanga’s daughter, has also cast their son.

'Boy Meets World' Creator Talks 'Girl Meets World'

Series creator (and executive producer on “Girl Meets World”) Michael Jacobs reveals that he was initially against doing a sequel to “Boy Meets World”, but after lots of thought, he wanted to create a show for a new generation of kids – kids that live in a different world than the one in “Boy Meets World”. He is also excited to continue the storyline of Cory and Topanga as they face the challenges of being parents, (a similar challenge of the viewers who grew up with “Boy Meets World”) while creating a new experience for the today’s children.

Meet Some of the New Characters from 'Girl Meets World'

Some new characters have been revealed for the upcoming “Girl Meets World”, the spiritual successor to “Boy Meets World”. Disney Channel seems to be on the hunt for some more child stars, as more casting calls go out. It was revealed a while back that the series would focus on Riley Matthews, the daughter of Cory and Topanga. And it was announced earlier that she would be played by Rowan Blanchard. Well, it seems the Matthews family is still growing. A description for the role of Elliot Matthews has been released.

'Boy Meets World' Sequel Casts Its Star!

There has been a huge amount of interest in the upcoming sequel to the beloved family show, “Boy Meets World,” which will follow married Cory and Topanga Matthews’ daughter, 13-year-old, Riley. And now the show, entitled “Girl Meets World,” has cast its biggest star, Riley herself. Stepping into the role as sweet and eager Riley will be Rowan Blanchard. Blanchard, 11, has appeared in “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D” and “The Back-Up Plan.
