Watch The Music in Me: Children's Recitals

A request went out to children from coast to coast in the United States. In response, more than 500 kids sent in video of themselves playing their favorite instruments. What grew out of the talents of many is an inspiring made for television series showcasing the musical abilities of children ages 7-11. Many cultures and musical styles are represented. It is a musical buffet for all ages to enjoy.

The ordinary kids playing extraordinary music are examples to young people everywhere to reach for the stars and play from the heart.

  • HBO asked young musicians from all over the U.S. to send in videotapes of the music they play. The joyful result is this refreshing look at kids from diverse cultural backgrounds, each playing the music they love. Among the young people who are introduced are: 11-year-old Neidin, a tin whistle player; 10-year-old Tony, a jazz pianist; and 11-year-old Maddie, a fiddle player.
