Ep 17. Sister II

In New Girl season 3 episode 17, entitled "Sister II," Jess' wild-child sister Abby (played by Linda Cardellini) returns to town and immediately causes chaos. Jess is excited to spend time with her sister, but quickly realizes that Abby is still struggling with her reckless ways. Meanwhile, Winston tries to impress his fellow police officers, but quickly realizes that he may not fit in with their macho personas. Nick and Schmidt, on the other hand, enter into a wager to prove who can go the longest without changing their clothes.

The episode starts with Jess finding out that her sister Abby is back in town. Jess is ecstatic at first, excited to see her sister and catch up on old times. But when Abby arrives, it's clear that she hasn't changed much since her last visit. She shows up at the loft unannounced, causing chaos and bringing with her a wild energy that throws everyone off balance.

At first, Jess tries to excuse Abby's behavior and chalk it up to her sister's free-spirited personality. But as the day wears on, Abby's reckless behavior becomes harder to ignore. She starts drinking heavily, causing a scene at a restaurant, and flirting with Nick and Schmidt, much to Jess' dismay. Jess begins to worry about her sister's well-being, but Abby brushes off Jess' concerns.

Meanwhile, Winston is struggling to fit in with his fellow police officers. He's determined to impress them and prove that he's a legit cop, but he quickly realizes that he may not be cut out for their macho antics. Winston tries to overcompensate by talking tough and acting cool, but only ends up embarrassing himself.

Nick and Schmidt, on the other hand, are engaged in a bizarre wager to see who can go the longest without changing their clothes. It starts off innocently enough, with Schmidt wearing the same outfit for several days in a row, but quickly escalates into a full-blown competition. Nick, determined to win, starts spraying himself with cologne to mask the smell of his unwashed clothes.

As the day wears on, tensions rise between Jess and Abby. Abby's reckless behavior becomes harder and harder to ignore, and Jess begins to realize that she can't fix her sister. Eventually, Abby pushes Jess too far and they have a big fight. Jess realizes that she needs to let go of her sister and focus on her own life.

Meanwhile, Winston finally realizes that he doesn't need to impress anyone but himself. He embraces his own quirks and individuality, impressing his fellow cops with his knowledge of obscure 90s R&B lyrics. Nick and Schmidt's wager comes to a gross conclusion, with Nick breaking the rules by changing his shirt in the middle of the night.

In the end, Abby leaves town again, but not before apologizing to Jess and promising to work on her issues. Jess realizes that she needs to focus on her own life and not try to fix her sister's problems. The episode ends on a hopeful note, with the characters coming to a greater understanding of themselves and each other.
