Cliffhanger is one of the most suspenseful movies to ever come out in the 1990's. The greatest thing about this movie that struck a chord in people watching was said to be how realistic and lifelike things were. There are indeed many dangers when people are going mountain climbing and cliffhanging. This great action and suspense movie delves into the story of a mountain climber played by Sylvester Stallone. What turns out to be a simple climbing trip quickly escalates into a heist that involves a plane from the U.S. treasury. Other important actors in the movie are Janine Turner, Michael Rooker, and John Lithgow. One of the main attention grabbers the movie features is the fact that only a few minutes into the movie there is a terrible altercation which involves something tragic happening to the friend Gabe Walker, played by Sylvester Stallone. This part of the movie starts out the epic journey that Gabe faces while in the Rocky Mountains. The part of the villain in the movie is played by John Lithgow, known in the movie as Eric Qualen. Eric is creating a plot to steal millions of dollars from the US treasury using his genius and ex-military intelligence abilities. The movie involves Sylvester Stallone and John Lithgow going head to head, but shows the dangers of mountain climbing that are faced by people each and every day. People wanting to see the classic movie feature good and evil, villain and hero, are going to be enthralled by the daredevil tactics of Stallone and the evil mastermind prowess of Lithgow. A key element of the movie is that the character Sarah, the girlfriend of Stallone in the movie, was killed during a fall in which Stallone feels he was unable to save her. It is the survivor complex of Sylvester Stallone's character. Gabe, in the movie that leads him to ultimately confront the evil of John Lithgow, Eric, and overcome his complex of having blamed himself for the death of the person he loved and failed to save.
