The Gazebo is a 1959 comedy/crime movie starring Glenn Ford, Debbie Reynolds, and Carl Reiner. The movie, which is set in California, revolves around the life of a young television writer by the name of Elliott Nash (Glenn Ford), who finds himself in a tight spot when a blackmailer threatens to expose his wife Nell's (Debbie Reynolds) past. As a result, Nash decides to kill the blackmailer, but things do not quite go according to plan.

The movie opens with Elliott Nash and his wife, Nell, in their sitting room. Elliott is a television writer who is struggling to come up with a plot for his new show. While he is working, Nell receives a package with an incriminating letter revealing her past as a nightclub dancer. The letter is from a blackmailer (Martin Landau) who wants $20,000 in exchange for his silence. Nash is furious and decides to kill the blackmailer, but he needs to find a way to do it without getting caught.

As Nash tries to plan the perfect murder, he begins to realize that it is not as easy as he thought it would be. He even considers confessing to the police, but Nell refuses to let him do that. Meanwhile, the blackmailer continues to demand his money and even sends a photograph of himself to Nash's house, further complicating the situation.

In the midst of all this, Nash's best friend, Harlowe (Carl Reiner), comes to visit. Harlowe is a happy-go-lucky actor who is oblivious to the troubles that Nash is facing. In fact, he complicates matters further by falling in love with Nell, which makes Nash even more nervous. Harlowe also gets involved in some of Nash's schemes to get rid of the blackmailer, leading to several hilarious misunderstandings.

The movie is filled with entertaining scenes that keep the audience engaged throughout. There are moments of tension when Nash is planning the murder and when the blackmailer is demanding his money, but these are always undercut by comedic moments. The chemistry between Ford, Reynolds, and Reiner is fantastic, and they all deliver strong performances.

One of the movie's most memorable scenes is when Nash tries to dispose of the blackmailer's body. He puts the body in a trunk and tries to dump it into the ocean, but the trunk ends up floating back to shore. Nash then decides to bury the body in his backyard, but he hits a water pipe and floods the garden. His attempts to hide the body even lead to a hilarious scene involving a drunk neighbor who mistakes the trunk for her own.

Overall, The Gazebo is a fun and entertaining movie that combines elements of comedy and crime. While the movie has some tense moments, the overall tone is light-hearted and humorous, making it a great choice for a lighthearted movie night. The performances from the three leads are superb, and the chemistry between them is undeniable.

The Gazebo is a 1959 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 41 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.8.
