Ep 17. Lip Service

In this episode of 7th Heaven, titled "Lip Service," the Camden family faces a number of challenges, both large and small. At the start of the episode, Annie is upset when she discovers that Eric has been keeping a secret from her: he's been taking lip-syncing lessons to perform at a charity event. Lastly, Ruthie is having trouble fitting in at school. She's been ostracized by her classmates because of her size, and she's feeling lonely and isolated. When she meets a new girl at school, she's excited to make a new friend but soon realizes that the girl only wants to hang out with her because of her family's wealth.

As the episode progresses, the different storylines intersect and the characters are forced to confront their problems head-on. Eric ultimately performs at the charity event, with the support of his family. Simon decides not to cheat on his exam, instead opting to study harder and ask his teacher for extra help. Matt struggles with the decision to treat his patient against her wishes, but ultimately decides to respect her beliefs while still providing her with care. Ruthie realizes that true friends are ones who accept and appreciate her for who she is, not what she has.
