Index III Episode 9: Holy Mother Veneration

As the conflict between the magical and scientific factions intensifies, Touma finds himself in the middle of another dangerous situation. After receiving a request from none other than the Pope himself, Touma is tasked with protecting Virgin Mary's statue, which has been stolen from a Catholic church. The statue is said to possess a mysterious power, which could potentially upset the balance of the world if it falls in the wrong hands.

The culprit behind the theft is revealed to be a member of the secretive Roman Catholic organization, the Agnese Forces. As Touma and the rest of the group search for the statue, they discover that the Agnese Forces have been using it as leverage to force their leader, Agnese Sanctis, to cooperate with them. Her subordinates threaten to destroy the statue unless she relents to their demands. Agnese's loyalty to the church is tested as Touma intervenes to try and save the statue and stop the conflict from escalating.

Meanwhile, Mikoto and Accelerator continue their search for the mysterious organization behind the recent attacks on the city. Despite their initial hostility towards each other, they begin to develop a mutual respect as they fight together against the enemy. As they inch closer to uncovering the truth, they must also confront their own limitations and the dark secrets of their pasts.

As the episode reaches its climax, Touma and Agnese are faced with a difficult decision. Will they do what is best for the church and endanger the world, or will they sacrifice the statue and prevent a potential disaster? With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, the stakes have never been higher in A Certain Magical Index.
