In the first episode of Akiba's Trip The Animation, we follow the adventures of Tamotsu Denkigai, a young man who is obsessed with the world of Akiba. Tamotsu is especially fond of underground pop culture and is always on the lookout for new and exciting happenings in the district.
Our story begins when Tamotsu is on his way to visit a new store opening in Akiba, which is known for selling unique goods. The store opening features a cosplay contest, which Tamotsu eagerly participates in. However, shortly into the competition, he witnesses a strange phenomenon where the cosplay model he is paired with becomes possessed by a strange entity.
Tamotsu becomes increasingly disturbed and realizes that he may be the only one who can see the entity for what it truly is. In his attempt to remove the entity from the cosplay model, Tamotsu's actions draw the attention of another group of people who are actively hunting down these supernatural creatures.
The leader of this group, known as the Bugged Ones, is Matome Mayonaka, a young woman who comes from a long line of warriors trained to combat these supernatural entities. Together with her comrades, they capture the possessed cosplay model and in turn, Tamotsu is captured as well.
It is then revealed to Tamotsu that he has become a Bugged One himself, and that the entity he witnessed was a Parasite taking over the body of an innocent person. To combat the Parasites and protect the people of Akiba, Tamotsu must team up with Matome and her group, known as Grand Theft Otaku.
Together, Tamotsu and Grand Theft Otaku take on the Parasites that threaten the safety of the people of Akiba. In the process, Tamotsu discovers new insights about himself and forms new relationships with unexpected allies.
Overall, the first episode of Akiba's Trip The Animation sets the stage for a fun and thrilling adventure through the world of Akiba, blending elements of comedy, action, and supernatural drama to create an entertaining and engaging story.
