Ep 2. We Formed a Team - Call Us Electric Mayo!

In this episode of Akiba's Trip The Animation, titled "We Formed a Team - Call Us Electric Mayo!", we see the main character, Tamotsu Denkigai, still reeling from his recent encounter with a "bugged one", a type of creature that masquerades as a human but is actually a vampire who feeds on the energy of Akiba's residents. Despite being saved by Matome Mayonaka, the two have a tense conversation in which she reveals that she too is a member of the secret organization known as "Electric Mayo" that fights against the bugged ones.

Determined to join the fight, Tamotsu convinces his sister, Niwaka, to loan him money to purchase a pricey otaku weapon. He plans to use it against a bugged one to prove his worth to Matome and the Electric Mayo team. However, his plans are quickly derailed when he runs into another bugged one and is forced to fight without his weapon. With Matome's help, Tamotsu manages to defeat the creature, but not without taking some serious damage himself.

Despite the setback, Tamotsu is still determined to join the fight against the bugged ones and becomes an official member of the Electric Mayo team. Alongside Matome and two other members, the awkward but friendly Akihabara icon Eureka and the mysterious Zera, Tamotsu begins his training to become a full-fledged fighter.

Throughout the episode, there are some humorous and self-referential moments, such as when Tamotsu comments on how the Electric Mayo team's name seems like it was thought up by a group of high school boys. We also see more of the show's fantastical elements, such as a bugged one who can manipulate objects with their mind and the aforementioned otaku weapon, which takes the form of a giant plush toy.

Overall, "We Formed a Team - Call Us Electric Mayo!" continues to establish the show's tone as a quirky, action-packed romp through Akihabara's otaku culture and underground vampire society. The main character's journey from a hapless observer to a determined fighter is just beginning, and it will be interesting to see what challenges the Electric Mayo team will face in future episodes.
