Following her success as the star and writer of the bawdy comedy "Trainwreck", Amy Schumer returns to her stand-up roots with this hour-long performance at New York City's fabled Apollo Theatre. Directed by Chris Rock, the special features Amy doing what she does best - giving a skewed perspective on being a single woman trying to navigate the dating scene while also dealing with her own growing celebrity. Throughout the special, one of the major topics that keeps getting revisited is Amy's sex life. The details, like the language, is frank and unapologetic, though often hilarious, making this special not the best choice for those who are easily offended. Fans of her Comedy Central series, "Inside Amy Schumer" though, will find much to love as the comedian hews to many of the same topics that are staples of the series, including the need for women to live up to and be judged by unrealistic standards of attractiveness as well as the wildly different standards of beauty to which men and women are held. All of this, while sounding dry enough here, is always with the goal of building to punchline after punchline, showing her to be possibly the top female performer in her field today.
