Ep 1. Pilot

Angie Tribeca is a satirical police procedural comedy television series starring Rashida Jones as the titular character. The show is created by Nancy and Steve Carell, and it premiered on January 17, 2016, on TBS. The show follows the life of Angie Tribeca, a member of the Los Angeles Police Department's elite RHCU (Really Heinous Crimes Unit), who is dedicated to solving bizarre and over-the-top crimes with her team of equally eccentric detectives.

Jay is a newly-transferred detective from the bomb squad, and Angie is hesitant to work with him as she's used to working alone.

The RHCU chief, Chet Atkins (Jagger), assigns Angie and Jay to investigate the murder of a prominent sushi chef. The team heads to the scene of the crime and start their investigation. However, things take a strange turn when the sushi chef's corpse is stolen from the morgue, and Angie and Jay have to race against time to find the corpse and solve the murder.

Along the way, the duo encounters a cast of eccentric characters, including a waiter with a photographic memory, a group of sushi chefs who may have been involved in the crime, and a pair of street performers who may hold the key to solving the case.

Despite their initial reluctance to work together, Angie and Jay start to form a bond as they navigate through the absurdity of their investigation. As they continue to investigate, they uncover a complex conspiracy that involves a sushi chain, the mayor's office, and the city's water supply.

The episode ends with Angie and Jay successfully solving the case and getting recognition from their superior officers. As they celebrate their success, they're interrupted by the appearance of Angie's estranged father, who's arrived to deliver some bad news.

"Pilot" serves as an excellent introduction to the world of Angie Tribeca. The episode is an unabashed parody of the police procedural genre, with exaggerated characters, absurdist humor, and a delightfully weird plot. The chemistry between Rashida Jones and Hayes MacArthur is palpable, and their banter is one of the highlights of the episode. Overall, "Pilot" is a hilarious and entertaining start to a show that only gets better as the season progresses.
