Angie Tribeca season 1 episode 2, titled "The Wedding Planner Did It," follows the unorthodox methods of Detective Angie Tribeca and her team as they investigate the murder of a renowned wedding planner on the day of a big wedding. As the investigation progresses, more and more suspects arise, each with their own motive to kill the wedding planner.
Angie and her partner, Detective Jay Geils, start by interviewing the wedding guests and staff, but find little evidence and even more confusion. They are aided by Dr. Scholls, a forensic scientist with some unusual techniques, including a pet dog that can detect scents, a piano that can play the victim’s heartbeat, and a laptop that displays the victim's final moments in 8-bit graphics.
Meanwhile, Angie's captain, Chet Atkins, pushes her and Geils to wrap up the case quickly, in order to make an appearance at another wedding, where he hopes to meet his soulmate. Angie, however, is determined to solve the murder and make sure justice is done.
As the day wears on, the case takes a bizarre turn when a second wedding planner is found dead, and Angie must race against time to apprehend the killer before they strike again. The suspects continue to pile up, including a jilted bride, a jealous ex-lover, and a caterer with a dark secret.
Through it all, Angie and Geils maintain their sense of humor and positive attitudes, despite the many obstacles and absurd situations they encounter. Along the way, they must navigate a maze of clues and red herrings, leading to a final, unexpected twist.
