Antiques Road Trip is a British television show that airs on the BBC. The show follows two antique experts as they travel around the country in search of valuable and interesting items to buy and sell at auction. In each episode, the experts have a budget of £200 and are given five days to find as many treasures as possible, which they then take to auction in the hope of making a profit.
In season 1, episode 13, the two antique experts taking part in the show are Paul Laidlaw and James Braxton. Paul is a history teacher turned antique dealer, while James is a former auctioneer who has a passion for antiques and collectibles. The pair are tasked with finding antiques in Warwickshire, with plenty of quirky and interesting items available to tempt them.
As they set off on their journey, Paul and James make their way to a local auction house, where they hope to find some bargains. They start off by bidding on a set of antique silver cutlery, which they hope will fetch a good price at auction. After some fierce bidding, they manage to secure the cutlery and move on to the next item.
Next, they visit a local antiques shop and find a beautiful gold pocket watch. The watch catches James' eye, and he hopes to make a decent profit by selling it at auction. They also come across a set of antique brass scales, which they think might be worth something. However, the owner of the shop is asking for a high price, so they will need to do some research to find out if they can make a profit.
As they continue their journey, Paul and James visit a local art gallery, where they discover some interesting paintings and sculptures. They are particularly taken with a Bronze statue, which they think might be quite valuable. They also come across an unusual piece of taxidermy - a mounted stag's head - which they hope to sell at auction.
One of the highlights of the episode is when Paul and James visit a local stately home and have a chat with the owner. They are given a tour of the house and see some incredible antiques, including a set of antique furniture which has been in the family for generations. The experts are particularly excited by a beautiful grandfather clock, which they hope to buy and sell at auction.
Throughout the episode, Paul and James encounter many interesting characters and have some amusing conversations. They often disagree on which items to buy and sell, but they manage to find some great items to take to auction.
In the final scene, we see Paul and James at the auction house, nervously awaiting the results of their sales. The auctioneer starts the bidding, and the two experts watch as their items are sold one by one. They are delighted to make some good profits on the items they bought, but also disappointed when a few items fail to sell. Overall, it's an entertaining and informative episode, showing the ups and downs of the antiques trade and the thrill of the auction room.
