In the 24th episode of season 6 of Antiques Road Trip, antique experts Charles Hanson and Margie Cooper travel to Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire in Wales in their classic cars in search of valuable antiques to sell at auction.
Their first stop is at Llysyfran antiques, where Margie is immediately drawn to a Victorian dining table. She admires the craftsmanship and thinks it will do well at auction, but Charles disagrees, citing its lack of practicality in modern homes. Margie decides to take a chance and buys the table anyway.
Next, the pair visits the National Woollen Museum, where they learn about the history of wool production in Wales. They also find a pair of Victorian bamboo chairs that catch their eye. Margie is hesitant to make an offer due to the chairs' fragile condition, but Charles knows the potential value of a rare find and convinces her to take a risk.
In Carmarthen, they visit a local collector who has an impressive collection of Welsh pottery. They examine various pieces and Margie is thrilled to find a rare Ewenny Pottery wall plaque. Charles, on the other hand, is not convinced it will sell well at auction and opts to leave it behind.
At their next stop, they visit a privately-owned castle in Pembrokeshire. They explore the castle's impressive collection of art, furniture, and antiques, including a pair of intricately-carved 17th-century oak chairs. Both Charles and Margie are immediately drawn to the pieces, but they are out of their price range.
Their final stop is at a collectors' fair in Haverfordwest. This is the last chance for both of them to find something of value to sell at auction. Margie finds a set of antique silver butter knives that she thinks will do well, while Charles discovers a rare Georgian mahogany writing bureau.
With their items in tow, the duo heads to auction in Cardiff to sell their finds. Margie's Victorian bamboo chairs exceed expectations and sell for a high price, but Charles's prediction proves correct as Margie's Ewenny Pottery wall plaque fails to meet its reserve. However, Margie's risk pays off as her Victorian dining table sets the room ablaze, selling for a large sum. In the end, Charles's Georgian writing bureau sells for an impressive amount, making him the winner of this Antique Road Trip.
Overall, this episode showcases the ups and downs of the antique market, as well as the importance of taking risks and making well-informed decisions in the world of antiques.
