Oliver Queen continues his mission to clean up the city of Starling, targeting one of its most corrupt businessmen, Martin Somers. After discovering evidence of Somers' connection to a recent murder, Oliver confronts him in his office. However, before Oliver can get any answers, his mother Moira calls him to inform him that Somers has turned up dead.

Meanwhile, Laurel Lance takes on the case of an innocent man on death row, prosecuted by her own father, Detective Quentin Lance. As she investigates the case, it becomes clear that things are not as they seem and she soon finds herself in danger.

As Oliver tries to uncover the truth behind Somers' death, he meets a former Marine named Ted Gaynor who works for Somers' company and also happens to be the man Laurel is trying to defend.
