ATL Homicide Season 3 Episode 4 Disrespecting Mamma: Dexter Freeman
- February 15, 2021
Quinn learns one of his contacts from his days as a beat cop runs the trap, and he sets him to work figuring out what unfolded the night Dexter was killed. He begins bringing the detectives witnesses from the street, and Quinn and Vince learn that four people came to the trap that night, two men and two women, and one of the women shouted “You know what it is!” before opening fire. They interview a woman called “Sweet,” who gives them the names of three people involved: Lisa Lindsey, Derrick Bolden, and Cari Tomlin. Using photo line-ups and witness statements, Quinn and Vince piece together that Lindsay is Derrick’s mom, and she was shut down at the trap earlier on the night Dexter was killed when she came around looking for drugs. Outraged that his mom had been disrespected, Derrick rallied her and his friend Cari to go back and exact revenge. But who was the fourth person in the car? Quinn and Vince learn it was “Sweet,” their first star witness, who left herself out of the story initially. She agrees to testify on behalf of the state, while Lisa, Derrick, and Cari all receive murder convictions. Cari is sentenced to fifteen years, and Lisa and Derrick are each serving life.
