Inconvenient Truth: Craig Porter is the eighth episode of the third season of the true-crime television series titled ATL Homicide. The show revolves around two retired Atlanta Police Department detectives named David Quinn and Vince Velazquez, who reminisce and recount some of their most challenging murder investigations.

In this particular episode, David and Vince delve into a case dating back to November 23, 2002, where they were called to investigate a double homicide involving two African-American males, Craig Porter and Jonathan Dennis, who were found shot inside a car parked in a parking lot of an apartment complex in Atlanta.

David and Vince recount how they initially believed the murders to be drug-related because of the suspicious activity that occurred at the apartment complex regularly. However, the evidence found in the car suggested otherwise. The detectives found a discarded piece of paper with a woman's name and number on it, which ultimately led them to a female witness named Diona Clark.

Diona Clark then reveals to the detectives that she witnessed her cousin, Samantha Smith, and her boyfriend, who was also Craig Porter, get into a scuffle, which ended up with Samantha shooting Porter. She also revealed that Samantha was heavily involved in drugs, and she believed that the murders were a result of a drug deal gone wrong.

However, the case took a turn when Samantha Smith was found murdered merely a month later. David and Vince recount how they connected the dots and found out that the true culprit of Craig Porter's murder was a man named James Holcomb, who was Smith's drug dealer, and was furious with her as she owed him a substantial amount of money for drugs. Holcomb believed that Smith had told Porter about his involvement with drugs, which led to Porter's murder. As a result, Holcomb killed Smith soon after Porter's murder to cover up his tracks.

David and Vince recount the extensive work and stakeouts they needed to do to gather evidence against Holcomb and how they eventually arrested him, which led to his conviction.

The episode encapsulates the intricate details of the case and how the detectives were able to turn it around using their experience and investigative skills. It also highlights the importance of witnesses coming forward and providing credible information to the detectives so that they can solve cases and bring the perpetrators to justice.

In conclusion, Inconvenient Truth: Craig Porter is a gripping episode that shows the viewers the ins and outs of a complex homicide case and how the detectives were able to solve it. The show helps the audience understand the complexities of a homicide investigation and the challenges that detectives face in bringing closure to families who have lost loved ones.
