Ep 5. Old Flames

In Battle Creek season 1 episode 5, titled "Old Flames," Detectives Russ and Milt investigate a murder at a high school reunion where the victim, a woman, was pushed down the stairs and hit her head. They begin interviewing the victim's classmates and find out that many have grudges against her, including a jealous ex-boyfriend and a former high school queen bee who was bullied by the victim.

As they continue to investigate, Russ and Milt also have to deal with personal issues. Russ's ex-girlfriend Holly comes to town and wants to reconcile, but Russ is hesitant due to their tumultuous past. Meanwhile, Milt has to confront his own issues when he realizes that he has been avoiding contacting his ex-wife and daughter, whom he hasn't seen in years.

The case takes several twists and turns as the detectives uncover more secrets and motives among the victim's classmates. They discover that the victim was involved in a scheme to blackmail several of her former classmates, and had even been working with one of them to extort money from the others.

In the midst of the investigation, Russ and Milt also have to navigate their personal relationships. Russ ends up sleeping with Holly, and Milt finally musters up the courage to contact his ex-wife and daughter.

The episode ends with the detectives solving the case and bringing the killer to justice, but also grappling with the complexities of their personal lives.
