Ep 1. What Happened to Kate Kane?

After an explosive season one finale, Batwoman season 2 picks up with a new character, Ryan Wilder, taking on the mantle of Gotham's protector. However, the first episode, "What Happened to Kate Kane?", starts by delving into the disappearance of former Batwoman Kate Kane, who has been missing for months.

The episode starts with the Gotham City Police Department discovering a plane crash that they believe Kate was on. We soon see Ryan take the reigns as the new Batwoman, but encounters issues such as the suit not fitting her properly and her lack of knowledge of Gotham's vigilante culture.

Throughout the episode, we see flashbacks to Kate's life with her father, sister, and girlfriend. It's clear that Kate had a lot of unfinished business before her mysterious disappearance. Her girlfriend, Sophie, is particularly invested in finding her and eventually seeks out Alice for answers.

The episode concludes with a shocking twist that has implications not only for Batwoman, but for all of Gotham City.
