As BBQ Crawl Season 1 heads towards its conclusion, episode 9 takes us to Missouri, where the competition is fierce as always. The episode starts with the host Diva Q arriving at the Ozarks BBQ Fest in Springfield, Missouri. She takes viewers on a tour of the festival, showcasing the various teams and their rigs, and gives us an inside look at what it takes to compete in such a high-stakes event.
Diva Q meets with a few of the competing teams, getting a sense of their strategies and techniques for smoking meat. One team, Smokin’ Wheels BBQ, even lets her try her hand at smoking a brisket, giving us insights into the process of cooking meats low and slow.
As the day goes on, the festival gets busier and the competition heats up. Diva Q talks to some of the judges about what they're looking for in a winning barbecue and gets a sense of what makes a perfect bite. Next, Diva Q takes us to the Missouri State BBQ Championship in Sedalia, where the competition is even more intense. A few veteran teams have come back to defend their titles, while some new teams are trying to make a name for themselves.

Diva Q then moves on to take a deep dive into the culture of Missouri BBQ. She meets a local pitmaster who shows her his homemade smoker and talks about the importance of wood choice in cooking meat. She also learns about the different styles of barbecue, such as Kansas City-style and St. Louis-style, both of which are famous in their own ways.
