Peering deep into the unforgiving seas of Alaska are the daring and desperate miners of Bering Sea Gold who make their living by hunting gold in the frigid ocean waters. In season 12 episode 9 titled 'Gold is Thicker Than Blood', we get to see the high-sea adventures of the miners attempting to strike gold in the most treacherous of conditions.

As the season is progressing, the miners are becoming more competitive and aggressive, and in this episode, the race for gold gets even more intense. The episode starts with Emily Riedel and her father, Steve Riedel, who are seen diving together in a golden spot where it's rumored a ship wrecked over a hundred years ago. The father-daughter duo has never worked together before, but they hope to find a fortune in the wreck that would help them overcome their financial struggles. Emily, who's also the captain of her own crew, has a lot of expectations riding on this dive, but will they be able to overcome the challenges of working in the dangerous waters of Bering Sea?

Meanwhile, Shawn Pomrenke, or 'Mr. Gold' as he likes to call himself, continues his quest to mine the richest gold deposit he's ever come across. He's hired a new diver Travis, who's got a reputation for being a hard worker, and Shawn has high hopes for him. But things don't go as planned, and Travis soon finds himself in a dangerous situation that could halt operations for Shawn's team, making him lose out on the lucrative opportunity. Shawn Pomeranke and his team has always been one of the successful miners of Bering Sea Gold, but will this new venture be worth it, or will it prove to be another disaster in the making?

On the other side, Vernon Adkinson is fighting a losing battle as he races against the clock to get his dredge up and running before his competition, Ken Kerr, gets the upper hand. Vernon has a lot of skin in the game; he's invested all his savings into this venture and can't afford to lose to Ken Kerr, who has always held his own in the gold mining business. Will Vernon Adkinson have enough gusto to pull this off and beat Ken at his own game?

Over at the Clark's camp, Zeke Tenhoff is working on his final cleanup after a successful gold season, but when he opens up the sluice box, he realizes much to his dismay that he has found the motherlode. The Clark's clan has always been one of the top contenders of Bering Sea Gold, collecting a massive amount of gold every season, but will they be able to withstand the stress tests of the next few days, which will determine if Zeke's gold will be enough for the whole season, or if they'll fall short?

Lastly, Kris Kelly, the winner of the last season, is going for broke in season 12. He's already got the upper hand in terms of catches, but he's pushing himself and his crew further, trying to beat his own record and become the biggest gold miner of Bering Sea Gold. Trying to beat his last season catch is his goal. As the competition heats up, can Kris manage to keep his lead, or will he lose the race to the gold?

With the race to battle against the forces of the Bering Sea, coupled with internal family conflicts and on-lane fights, Bering Sea Gold season 12 episode 9 is a wild ride of gold seizing plunges in the most treacherous conditions known to mankind. Every miner is running after the same dream of striking it rich, and this episode captures their every move and every breath as they fight to mine their fortune.
